Gambling Action Alert
HB 1124 is on the Governor's Desk - Legalizes Gambling in Bars
HB 1124 will expand gambling in every community statewide. This bill legalizes gambling on video game "contests" of two or more in bars, restaurants, bowling alleys, etc. Children have grown up playing electronic video games, which can become addictive. Adding the element of cash and prizes will make the activity even more attractive to young people, and many will become addicted to gambling.
If these video games of "skill" are legalized, people will expect a "pay out" on all video machines, including video poker and casino games. It will be impossible to police establishments to determine if there is illegal gambling. Organized crime and money laundering are real concerns. The owners of the video machines and the establishments that lease them will reap huge windfall profits. The state will get nothing and will be left to pay for the cost. Families and children will suffer.
We must generate thousands of calls to the Governor's office--all calls are counted. Your call will make a difference!
