Gambling Action Alert

Late last night the Senate Executive Committee passed HB 2035 for land-based casinos in Chicago, Account Deposit Wagering that legalizes gambling on horse racing on the Internet, an expansion of gambling positions for the existing casinos. (4,000 gambling positions at Chicago casinos and 6,000 additional gambling positions at existing casinos).

Last night the Senate voted on a bill for bonding authority for capital construction projects for roads, schools and for health care. The gambling bill was to be called for a vote next, with the revenue from gambling used to fund these construction projects. The bonding bill was short 2 votes, and the Senate adjourned before voting on the gambling bill. "Back room deals" could be cut today and the bills could be amended and called for another vote tonight. Please call your Senator TODAY and ask others to call and ask for NO MORE GAMBLNG.

1. Call your State Senator ( 217-782-2000) TODAY and ask him/her to vote NO on HB 2035 and all other gambling bills.
