A look into the minds and hearts of the ILCAAAP Teen Board

"The ILCA3P board has changed my life. Not even kidding. I'd say going to the retreat was probably the best decision of my life. The experience has brought me closer to God and my friends, and has instilled in me values, morals, and characteristics that really shape my character. It has given me everything I need to be the leader to my peers that I am today. The board gives me so much happiness and acceptance that is hard to find anywhere else. It's nice to know that I have this support group to fall back on and 33 friends that I can call if I ever need something. I'm so comfortable around these people, and they bring out the best qualities in me that might have been hidden without my experience on this board. The leadership skills I have learned will help me thoughout my life. I have changed so much and I owe a great deal of that to this board and the people on it. They have changed my life in ways that they may never know. Being here, with these people, makes me so unbelievably happy... like... like.. Christmas... EXTENDED!"

"ILCAAAP has been a wonderful blessing in my life. I have been given so much though my involvement with ILCAAAP. I have grown in relationships and most importantly I have grown in my faith. I have grown in my relationship with God, which has helped me, the most. I feel that ILCAAAP has given me endless opportunities to seize the day and make the most of my life. I believe that anything is as good as what you put into it, and ILCAAAP has been one of my greatest experiences on my short journey of life."

"Illinois Church Action on Alcohol and other Addictive Problems. Think about what that means... Illinois. For the Midwestern pride of course. Church. How many teen and even adults are scared to express their faith for fear of what others may think? Yet here we have a group of teens with the word "Church" in the title. I think that's pretty cool. Action against Alcohol and other Addictive Problems. We have all delt with the effects of addictive problems in one way or another, wheather it has been a family member or friend or perhaps even ourselves. I think that the fact that we stand up against those problems says a lot. The people on this board stand up against the odds and make a world of difference by choosing so."

"Because of this diverse assortment of God's gifts ILCAAAP is a guiding force in prevention with God's help. He gives us the strength to be true to our beliefs as Jesus was in his. God showed us though Jesus that good still reigns in the world as long as we know where to look and act upon it."

"This is my first year on the ILCAAAP Teen Board and I'm really enjoying it. I went to the retreat for two years, and then decided that I liked it enough to be on the board. This past year, with the rest of the board, we have gone to quite a few places, performed skits, and had group discussions with many teens."
